The Higher Education Academy (HEA) is a UK-based organisation responsible for enhancing teaching and supporting learning in higher education. They work with governments, universities and other higher education providers to help being about change in learning and teaching. They do this to improve the experience that students have while they are studying, and to support and develop those who teach them.
About the opportunity
The HEA have two intern opportunities for curious, enthusiastic and hardworking graduates looking to gain work experience of applied policy research. The posts are aimed at recent graduates looking to gain their first paid experience of applied research.
The internship will involve the following:
- Contributing to a literature review and rapid evidence audit of existing HEA research and insight
- Assist with basic analysis of survey data and other datasets
- Key tasks: desk research; literature reviews; interviewing staff about research projects; basic data analysis; report writing; gathering data to inform our research and marketing strategy for the coming year
Internships can be full time (35 hours per week) or part time (minimum of 14 hours per week) for a period of 6-8 weeks.

Candidates must have (or be studying for) a postgraduate qualification in applied social research/research methods, or be able to demonstrate that they have studied and used applied research methods as part of their undergraduate degree. They must also have evidence of solid research skills (quantitative or qualitative) and excellent IT skills, particularly using MS Office packages.
Interviews should take place during the week commencing 31st August, and successful candidates would start working from the week commencing 7th September 2015.
