How to build a strong profile: Education

fb-insidertips-ed

This is part three in our series of Insider Tips  for how to use your Gradintelligence profile to maximise your chances of being discovered for opportunities. We love connecting students with opportunities, and we want to make sure students and graduates get the most out of their profiles.

Why build your profile?
Simply put, the more you develop your profile, the more likely you will be tagged for opportunities that are best suited to you and your preferences.

Gradintelligence uses an intelligent matching algorithm which takes the elements of your profile, and aligns them with the criteria that employers and Higher Education institutions are searching for in potential candidates or students.

So, how should you do it?
This week, we’re talking about education.

If you attend one of our partner institutions, your university will provide your verified academic results, which you can then access through your account. This data takes the form of the Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR). The HEAR includes information about the programme you studied, your modules and results, any other university-recognised achievements and your final degree award.

The information from your HEAR auto-populates your Gradintelligence profile, and this data is one of the criteria by which you can be discovered by employers. This means if an employer isfb-ucas searching for a candidate who got a 2:1 in Sociology, they will be able to target any students who meet this criteria and tag them for the opportunity. The more information you provide, the more likely you are to be tagged for an opportunity which is perfect for you.

What if I don’t have a HEAR/my university is not signed up?
HEAR or no HEAR, you can still provide your academic credentials – course title, overall grade, module results etc. The more specific you are, the more likely you are to get a relevant tag.

What about my other education?
You can also provide any previous education, such as GCSEs of A-levels, and any other academic qualifications you’ve gained.

Is it worth my time?
Whatever time and effort you put in will not be wasted. First of all, filling in your educational background will make you easier to target in the talent pool, so you can get those all important tags. Once you get tagged, your existing profile data will auto-fill the application form. All you then need to do is review, refine and submit. As a result, most applications can be made in a matter of minutes rather than hours.

Any questions?
As always, we are more than happy to help with any issues you have updating your profile. Please contact us on Twitter, Facebook or through email: customerservices@gradintel.com
