The opportunity

Our 12 month programme provides the skills and knowledge required to run a profitable technology startup.

Alacrity is a paid programme, our graduates receive a tax free stipend of £1,500 a month for the duration of the programme.

Throughout the year we cover all the disciplines that are necessary for the creation of a successful company. For instance our graduates won’t just learn about the importance of marketing, but they’ll learn how to do it. Our entire curriculum is based around providing practical skills with real world application. We have a world-class team who together have created over 100 companies that have a combined market value in the billions. As well as the Alacrity team we also have a network of over 70 experienced mentors, drawn from a range of businesses.  These business leaders, many of whom are leaders in their sectors, give their time to share their expert knowledge and experience.

Upon successful completion of the programme, the Foundation gifts its graduate members ownership of a start-up company. Without firm financial foundations it can be near impossible for a new business to flourish. The Foundation works with an investment fund that gives our Alacrity graduate companies access to up to £250,000 of seed funding upon completion of the programme.

Who do we work with?
One of the unique characteristics of the foundation is our demand driven model. The Foundation challenges our graduates to solve a practical business problem sourced directly from industry. We source these problems from a range of organisations drawn from the health, financial services, technology, education, security and construction sectors. We work with the private, public and even third sectors. A number of our graduated companies have gone on to create products that produce a social good. Our partners are all eager to support the programme by offering access to their businesses and staff that act as mentors.

Next steps

We recruit graduates from all over the world who have the ambition, drive and maturity to run a business. Alacrity combines graduates from technology and science disciplines with those from a business background to form teams of four people. Our aim is to unleash a new generation of British technology companies and we look for graduates that have the motivation to match this mission. Our graduates must have a strong team ethos, a successful company is built on the shared commitment, ambition and hard work of a unified team. They must also be resilient as the journey to success will, invariably, challenging and require resolve to complete. Alacrity has a commitment to developing the fast growing digital industry in South Wales, it is expected that our graduated companies will headquarter in South Wales.
